This course aims to equip educators with an understanding of how to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve their teaching methods and boost student engagement and learning.
We begin by demystifying AI, explaining what it is, how it works, and its increasing relevance in the educational sector. Next, we delve into the potential benefits of AI in education. We also address potential challenges and ethical considerations associated with using AI in the classroom, including data privacy and accessibility issues.
Lastly, we emphasize the importance of keeping parents and caregivers informed about the use of AI in education. We offer guidance on communicating the benefits and potential concerns, addressing questions, and involving parents in the AI-enhanced learning process.
By the end of the course, educators will have a solid understanding of how AI can be used to enhance teaching methods and boost student learning and engagement. They will also be equipped with practical strategies for integrating AI into their teaching practices effectively.
About the Speaker
Wayne Holmes is an experienced educator with a focus on the intersection of AI and education, examining its ethical and social justice implications. He has published numerous works on AI in education, including “Artificial Intelligence in Education. Promise and Implications for Teaching and Learning” (2019), and provided guidance for UNESCO’s “AI and Education: Guidance for Policy-makers” (2021). Holmes has consulted with the education ministries of Portugal and the UK, contributed to the EU’s DigComp 2.2 Annex, and leads the Council of Europe’s work on AI and education. His expertise is globally recognized, having given talks in several countries and online to international audiences.
